Home education is not viewed by everyone as an acceptable alternative to public education. A family may need legal representation in the event they are faced with charges or court action connected with homeschooling.
Legally, the responsibility of quality and outcome of homeschooling falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents. For this reason, LCA recommends parents consider a membership to the HomeSchool Legal Defense Association to provide the parents legal protection in the case of any dispute with the Public School System in regard to homeschooling.
If you are sincerely teaching your children and are doing so because of religious reasons, you are fully backed by the Alabama Constitution and the Constitution of the United States.
